In a Nutshell
I got this pair of men’s Kapital Japan biking pants from a local moving sale. They’re amazing, but there are several mendings to be done: several tears around a leg pant and thigh, weakened seam around one back pocket, and a torn back pocket.
Most of the tears are minor, and they are fixed by darning. The back pocket needs a little more reinforcement, and I use a Change Maker embroidery pattern https://samanthaclaridgestudio.com/product/change-maker-embroidery-pattern-pdf-download/ to both reinforce and embellish the back pocket with embroidery and reverse appliqué stitches.
A piece of 1” elastic is also added to the back waist for better fit.
Key Materials
The main materials for this Repair project are a pair of Kapital Japan biking pants, embroidery flosses and threads for darning and embroidery stitching, as well as a piece of 1” elastic, scrap cottons and Liberty print remnant for back pocket reinforcement. Sewing machine and notions complete the tool list.
