Gosia Baczynska shows the dark side of spring on her Spring/Summer 2015 collection named “Black Spring.” The 1930s bohemian looks adored with quotes from Henry Miller’s “11 Commandments” are total knockouts.
I guess I’m a sucker for a pair of white pants with tiny black prints of quotes taken from Henry Miller’s “11 Commandments” text. While that’s clearly my most favorite piece out of Gosia Baczynska’s Spring/Summer 2015, the collection is clearly filled with strong pieces that are bold and bohemian. A free-spirited collection (see the crayon streaks on the models’ legs) that has refined silhouettes adorned with Miller’s text serving as statement messages strikes a wonderful balance. The outfits look smart, modern, elegant with a little dose of avant garde, thanks to the sculpted pleats, laces covered with foil and flock patterns, prints inspired by typesetting, and jacquard knits.
The fashion show was held at the Polish Ambassador Residence (Hotel de Monaco at Paris – 57 Rue Saint-Dominique, 75007 Paris) on September 25, 2014. While the white pants are my favorites, the Gosia Baczynska‘s SS15 collection was mostly filled with knee-length or midi-length dresses in black, navy blue, pink, blue, mint green, and white. I think this is one of the collections for which my level of appreciation increases the more I browse through the photos. The silhouettes are clean, but the fabric treatments are so bold and exciting. It’s rebellious without being wild, just like Ms. Baczynska herself. Seriously, read her biography if you haven’t already.
OK, ready? Here are runway photos from Gosia Baczynska Spring/Summer 2015, courtesy of Totem Fashion! See if you can find quotes from Miller’s text, such as “Keep human! Go places, see people, drink if you feel like it.” or “Don’t be a draught-horse! Work with pleasure only.” on the blouses, skirts, dresses and shoes. It’s also worth noting that Ms. Baczynska designed her own shoes for the first time, in collaboration with Nunc.

What do you think? It’s a fascinating collection, is it not? Perhaps my eyes aren’t good enough to figure out the text on the garments, but if I have one garment from this collection, I hope it has “Don’t be nervous. Work calmly, joyously, recklessly on whatever is in hand.” printed on it.
Thank you for reading; until next time,
Musank
