Dutch designer Erik Frenken got inspired by his world travels and images by photographer Jimmy Nelson to produce Avelon Spring/Summer 2015 collection.
Avelon’s Creative Director, Erik Frenken reflected on his world travel from the past couple of years to refine his designer signature. Couple that with stunning portraits documenting tribal cultures and the distinctive identity and traditions of indigenous people by Jimmy Nelson, Mr. Frenken’s inspiration for Avelon Spring/Summer 2015 collection was complete. Avelon Spring/Summer 2015 collection was the label’s first showing at Paris Fashion Week, and it was held on September 29, 2014 at 85 rue de Grenelle, 75007 Paris.
The collection is all about understated modern looks, using luxury fabrics like sand washed crepe de chine and smocked georgette combined with tribal ornamentation such as grass, moss, pleated fabrics, raffia, and embossed leather. I love the many shapes of fringe this collection has, especially the fringe rope necklaces. The pleated dresses and skirts, baggy pants, long blazers and vests are also big hits.

Thank you once again to Totem Fashion for sending me the runway photos. These are garments with a healthy dose of modern style, with hints of futurism that reinterprets our cultural identity.
Thanks for reading; until next time,
Musank
