In a Nutshell
Accidentally dipped in bleach, the Uniqlo silk shirt started to disintegrate before being rescued. All of the tears and holes were mended using layered fabric remnants such as cotton kimono remnants and synthetic mesh knits.
The previously refashioned silk shirt underwent its second transformation as a boro shirt, hand stitched and machine sewn featuring some ribbon and lace trims.
Key Materials
The main materials for this Refashion project were one silk button-down shirt, deColorant spray, and various fabric scraps. Home sewing machine, and hand stitching tools complete the tool list.
Result Highlights
Until this day, this shirt is carefully cleaned after each wear. It’s occassionally mended with more patching as new holes show up due to the delicate nature of the already weakened silk material.
