The Mishin Fine Arts Gallery at 445A Sutter St., San Francisco was the perfect set for Vasily Vein Fashion Show on March 28th last week. The fashion show showcased the designer’s newest looks that are very luxurious, very Vasily, as well as benefited the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

By 7:30pm, the gallery was packed with eagerly anticipating audience, some of whom might be waiting to own one or more looks shown that night (they held ruffle drawings for which 3 Vasily Vein outfits serve as prizes). The fashion show started approximately 10 minutes before 8pm, with models going out one by one after being dolled up by Jamie Huang (MUAH) and Shauntee Thompson (MUA).

As the first model walked up to the front of the gallery, I immediately was reminded on how impressed I was when I saw Vasily Vein’s collection back in Menlo Park Charity Fashion Show 2011, and once more during Ahead of the Fashion event in 2012. The embroidery patterns give a luxurious vintage feel and the sweeping skirts move gracefully with the models’ movements. I’m happy to see the last dress of this first batch of looks, as I remember loving this gown so much back in 2012. I still love it now :)

The next two gowns are so full of lace embroidery gorgeousness. They’re so elegant!

Next was the only short-length dress presented that night, and Jessica (the model) killed it! The folds and fullness of the skirt are just so controlled. And the luxurious sequined dress that followed (did I see it back in 2011? I don’t care…it’s gorgeous) made some audience members gasped due to its serious bling factor (maybe).

The series of 4 velvet and lace dresses are languid and charming. The selective sheen of the fabric highlighted each models’ silhouette beautifully.

Here they come, the mermaid gowns. The execution of these two dresses are so clean and crisp, and the style is both bold and beautiful. What a great demonstration of the designer’s dress construction skills.

The black and white bridal gowns that followed are very elegant. I love the peplum treatment on the hips, and I really like the front details of the second gown.

And finally, you know a Vasily Vein fashion show is coming to an end when you start seeing full, extravagant gowns with lots of tulle. They’re the show stoppers, and Vasily himself came out beaming at the end with his gorgeously clad in all-white model.

BONUS PICTURES: Audience Highlights & After Party

This time, I had a camera with me and I positioned myself opposite the VIP audience during the fashion show. The pictures I took showcased the audience’s delightful reactions as the models passed by, and I found them precious in adding richer context to the fashion show. Below are my favorite shots plus a little bit of after-party shots Chris and I took.

Congratulations Vasily Vein, for showing a gorgeous collection once again. Please check out the designer’s work at his Vasily Vein website.

Until next time,
